Great for you. Which crafter makes obsidian armor?

But seriously, not a brilliant idea. Go blame your lack of money and inability to get materials on something else...

Uhm Obsidian armor is the proper name for the armor sets that the enternal forgemaster makes, as 15k armor in southern shiverpeaks is the Ascended Sets and the rest is commonly known as Tyrian Sets You can infact see that the devs use this name in update notes, Fan site interviews, etc.

The developers themselves planned that this armor will not be everyone, thats why they made the meterials hard to collect and timely. Think of Tyrian armor at droknars forge as low end armor, Ascended sets as medium and Obsidian sets as high. It is said that more armor will be added in the next chapter to fill in the gaps of getting medium to high armor. So in simplier terms, Dont get yourself discouraged that someone with 1 mil gold has obsidian armor and you dont.
Hey stick with Ascension armor like all the cool people

I could tell by your name but...
kthxbye is a way of expression, It shows that the question or problem you are taking so hard to discuss can be answered in a 1 second thought. A little bit of sarcasm to show that this is pointless : \

But IF YOU ARE BITCHING THAT YOU CANT GET FOW ARMOR
1. Go to the corner, shut the hell up and cry
2. Go farm your ass off you lazy punk bitch
3. Go to ebay and buy your damn armor
4. Send emails to ANet threatening to quit

Ah ok thanks for clearing that up.
And "I could tell by your name but..." sounds like a hint of an insult, but I'm not gonna be a victim of an online insult and start a flame war.
Cheers.

Yeah I would actually have to agree that I'm a boring person, and saying otherwise would just be lying to myself.

I agree that Fissure and UW quests should give Ectos and Shards: guaranteed and evenly distributed. Or better yet, give the party leader 3x as much as everyone else for him putting in the time and energy to make a party full of non-idiots who won't die before the second Fissure quest is done (which is actually quite a hard thing to do given how bad most players are at playing the game).

Fissure and UW quests are very hard in that it takes a lot of time and energy to form a competent party that is able to handle them. And even if you do, chances are 2 or 3 of them will have dropped out of the game shortly after the first Rastigan quest is done.

Rewarding Fissure and UW players more fairly for their time and energy is something that is long over-due.

Take out normal Ecto and Shard Drops completely. Put them as a quest reward in UW and FOW. Make an exception for the first quest down there in each of these areas (Tower and Chamber) so they don't get farmed.

5.000 exp quest - 1 Ectoplasma for each partymember
10.000 exp quest - 2 Ectoplasma for each partymember

This way it will moreover be skill when someone gets it. Not some boring farming over and over again. And this way the quests would actually HAVE a value. Unlike they do now. Sure you can get skillpoints but those you can get almost faster when you're killing griffons and other stuff like that. And honestly... 10.000 exp for the Grenth Restoration Quest is ridiculous... given that you have to wipe the whole UW to complete it.

I honestly think that idea ^^^^^^^^ will raise the prices of ectos and shards drastically. No, really.

If u have not noticed the quest are re-doable , so why not just do them for 5 days and get it? pointless isnt it? FoW is supposed to be achieved through hardwork and A.net created this by basically static that this IS the cream of the crop, this IS the caviar on your table, its not meant to be made easiar to get, only harder.

How does having to spend several thousand hours (literally) in Fissure and UW until all the Shards and Ectos you need happen to drop for you equate into "hard work"? That is not work; that is horrible grind. Something Guild Wars devs always say Guild Wars is not supposed to be about.

As for getting all the Ectos and Shards you need in 5 days from Fissure and UW: how are you gonna do that? How are you gonna have enough good players be online with you 24/7 to make sure you always have a party that won't die before the first quest in Fissure is done? And even if you did have that, it would still take a lot longer than 5 days to get them. What does Fissure armor cost, 120 shards and 120 ectos? At 1 piece per quest, that's 240 quests that would need to be done just to afford those two material pieces alone. Certainly completing 240 Fissure and UW quests is very hard work and a player who has done that deserves Fissure armor.

Also, it seems like in your assessment here you are neglecting to factor in the massive amount of time that making a good party takes. And having to re-make a new party after every run.

Well I have actualy had another idea.......
1 shard for each quest in Fow, 1 ecto for each quest in UW
*combined with!!!*
Ectoplasm and shards become like Fame and Faction, Something you can see when you press the "H" Key and are no longer transferable.
*Introducing Diamonds* (1 current ecto = 1 Diamond)(4 current shards = 1 diamond)
Diamonds-"Currency(bought and sold at merchant for SAME price)" Value 10,000 Gold. These items Can Stack.

What is this Gold thing you speak of?
What are these ecto's you speak of?
What are these shards you speak of?

*walks up to jhoneil [priest of balthazar], spends some more faction, smiles cause he has finally unlocked almost every skill in the game, thinks back to the good old days when he could be bothered to play pve in the UW and FoW and get pissed off at crappy team mates, smiles again as this no longer happens cause he discoverd a long time ago what almost all of the good players where doing*

<-- UAS by PvEing. Faction is for runes and weapon upgrades which are more on the random side to obtain.
